New Technology For The Health Care Industry

New Technology For The Health Care Industry

http://www.npacomputers.com

Typically slow to adapt new technologies due to very legitimate reasons such as data security and privacy, the Health Care industry is perfectly poised to reap the benefits cloud has to offer.

Let’s imagine you owned a home in both New York and Florida and lived in New York only for the summer. Maybe you had an MRI done in New York but are now in Florida for the winter.

Now if both of your doctors utilized cloud computing, there would be no need to wait for the MRI Image to be shipped from one state to the next. There would be no need for your doctors to get on the phone because all their notes with all your records were quickly transferred, in turn providing you with the actual treatment you need in real time.

The healthcare industry will experience a disruptive innovation around Cloud computing being implemented in more and more hospitals and doctor’s offices. It won’t be long before both doctors and patients alike recognize the benefits of time saving (waiting rooms, duplicate tests), the delivery of images (which are actually very large, taking up gigabytes of information on on-premise databases), and of course, cost savings on the locally maintained hardware.
It’s not long before the shift takes place, which will be shortly after the biggest security issues are resolved.

Microsoft makes Google look outdated

Microsoft makes Google look outdated

With Microsoft 365 Improving Accessibility, Reliability and Security with Cloud computing, it’s no wonder many ogranizations are going with Microsoft over Google.

Here are some of the Key benefits listed

•Better remote accessibility—With Office 365, employees can access email from virtually any smartphone, remote PC, or other mobile device.
•Increased reliability—To date, majority of users have experienced zero downtime. In addition, Office 365 is backed by a 99.9 percent uptime guarantee and offers 24 x7 support from highly-trained professionals.
•Reduced administrative overhead—Easy Active Directory synchronization lets FICCI manage user identities across different in-house and online installations, helping the organization to lower administrative costs.
•Decreased capital costs—Office 365 reduces the capital cost of purchasing servers and storage, while complementing any existing IT infrastructure.
•Improved email—With Office 365, employees now have bigger email in-boxes, solving the data storage problems. In addition, email transactions are more secure.
Microsoft Office 365 clearly makes Google Apps look outdated when it comes to enterprise-class security and delivering the cloud on your terms. Need I say anymore?

Microsoft 365 or Google for cloud computing

Microsoft 365 or Google for cloud computing

Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen a slow steady stream of companies move towards the cloud. Cloud-based computing is an evolution that comes in spurts. At NPA computers we educate our customers about the cloud every day. Security and trust are still a top concern for people, but slowly we are over coming that issue. Over the next few years, there’s going to be a tremendous push toward the cloud both because of the economies of scale and price-performance improvements it offers.
Already, we have moved several clients to Microsoft O
ffice 365, and many more are planning to migrate over the next few months. Unlike Google Apps, Office 365 offers a hybrid approach to the cloud, making it the best choice for any organization that wants to transition to the cloud in phases or permanently keep some of its workloads on-premise.
Office 365: An Enterprise Leader
For customers that already use Microsoft software, the decision to move to Office 365 over Google Apps is typically an easy one. It’s usually companies that don’t have an existing infrastructure that compare Office 365 to Google Apps before making a decision. You’d be surprised how many customers are already leaning toward Microsoft but just want the reassurance that it’s the best decision. I don’t hear people say, “Google Apps has a better value proposition than Office 365.” Instead, it’s usually: “Convince me to go with Office 365.”
Microsoft is rated as a leader in all key enterprise capabilities. By comparison, Google only shows up in one category.
It’s just incredible how Microsoft 365 has helped businesses to increase efficiency, have fewer hardware and maintenance needs, and no longer have to worry about installing software patches or updates, or keeping systems safe from computer viruses. Not to mention it reduces travel costs by allowing you to have video conference live anywhere, anytime. Overall, it’s the best decison as long as you take the time to investigate what is right for you.

Insurance Companies move to the Cloud

Insurance Companies move to the Cloud

Insurance companies and agencies are accelerating their trust in cloud solutions. Cloud solutions are becomming viable for mission-critical business applications.
Scalability and business agility top the list of business cases to be made for cloud. The leading applications moving to the cloud include backup and archiving, business continuity, collaboration tools, and big data processing.
Insurance companies need to ensure that they are up and running for their policyholders during hurricanes and other emergencies. During a hurricane or other emergency, they’re not selling policies, they’re servicing claims. For that reason, all operations-including its phone systems-are better off in the cloud. The cloud is faster, and there are many issues that can be quickly remedied by available cloud solutions. Agents that work out in the field are buried by paperwork and don’t have to be anymore.
Insurance Companies are able to maintain client files that agents have. Companies can give agents access to the applications, then they have their fact finders, policy receipts, illustrations-everything dealing with the clients. They don’t need to have paper files anymore which helps to save on resources.
As far as security is concerned, major cloud providers know security is their business. If they can’t prove that they have a secure platform, then they have no business. Many Insurance companies are looking at their own operations and realizing that cloud providiers have better security architecture than they do. The directions cloud can go in are virtually limitless- for any industry.

Beware of New Credit Card Scam

This scam is very  clever. Be very careful out there! One could easily fall for this – beware  of people bearing gifts!

There is a new and  clever credit card scam.
Please circulate this. Someone it happened to  says it works like this:

Wednesday a week  ago, I had a phone call from someone who said that he was from some outfit  called: “Express Couriers” asking if I was going to be home because there  was a package for me, and the caller said that the delivery would arrive  at my
home in roughly an hour. And sure enough, about an hour later, a  uniformed delivery man turned up with a beautiful basket of flowers and wine. I was very surprised since it did not involve any special occasion or holiday, and I certainly didn’t expect anything like it. Intrigued about who would send me such a gift, I inquired as to who the sender is.
The deliveryman’s reply was, he was only delivering the gift package, but allegedly a card was being sent separately; (the card has never arrived!).  There was also a consignment note with the gift.

He then went on to  explain that because the gift contained alcohol, there was a $3.50  “delivery charge” as proof that he had actually delivered the package to  an adult, and not just left it on the doorstep where it could be stolen or  taken by anyone. This sounded  logical and I offered to pay him cash. He then said that the company  required the payment to be by credit or debit card only so that everything  is properly accounted for. My husband, who by  this time was standing beside me, pulled his wallet out of his pocket with  the credit/debit card, and ‘John’, the “delivery man”, asked my husband to  swipe the card on the small mobile card machine which had a small screen  and keypad
where Frank was also asked to enter the card’s PIN and security  number. A receipt was printed out and given to us.

To our horrible  surprise, between Thursday and the following Monday, $4,000 had been  charged/withdrawn from our credit/debit account at various ATM  machines. It appeared that  somehow the “mobile credit card machine” which the deliveryman carried now  had all the info necessary to create a “dummy” card with all our card details after my husband swiped our card and entered the requested PIN and
security number. Upon finding out  about the illegal transactions on our card, we immediately notified the  bank which issued us the card, and our credit/debit account was  closed. We also personally  went to the Police, where it was confirmed that it is definitely a scam  because several households had been similarly hit.

WARNING: Be wary  of accepting any “surprise gift or package”, which you neither expected  nor personally ordered, especially if it involves any kind of payment as a condition of receiving the gift or package. Also, never accept anything if  you do not personally.
know or there is no proper identification of who the  sender is. Above all, the  only time you should give out any personal credit/debit card information  is when you yourself initiated the purchase or transaction!
